ACC Ace

It was Sunday March 25th, 2017 and a beautiful day to play golf in the Texas Panhandle town of Amarillo, Texas. I had just chipped in on 16 for birdie from over the green out of thick rough to a tough downhill lightning fast pin position. Just getting it close would have been hard so I was in a great mood heading to the toughest par 3 on the course at Amarillo Country Club. The yardage was 198 yards. I was torn between a 4 iron and a 20 degree hybrid club. I chose the 4 iron and struck it exactly like I wanted. I watched the Pro V-1 soar perfectly to toward my target. My eye sight isn't what it once was so after it reached the green I lost sight of the ball. My first thoughts were that I would have a short birdie putt. One of my playing partners commented that I better use my range finder to see where the ball was as he thought the ball had a chance to go in the hole. I laughed it off, when we arrived at the green I didn't see my ball on the green so I grabbed a sand wedge thinking it might be long in the back bunker. While I was looking in the back bunker one of my playing partners looked in the hole and yelled to me "It's in the hole". "The ball's in the hole!" I immediately celebrated by throwing my hat in the air and high fiving my other playing partners. This was my second hole-in-one. My previous one was in 1986 over 30 years ago and Yes, I bought drinks in the bar afterward and loved every minute of it. I shot a personal best round for 2017 of 75 so the day couldn't have been better. I had been playing Pro V-1 x balls and changed to the regular Pro V-1 and will keep using that ball forever. In fact I bought 2 dozen the very next day. Hopefully it won't be another 30 years until I make the next one. Thanks Titleist! Cheers To All, Danny O'Neal Handicap-8
