It took only 55 years from the first time I hit a golf ball until I recorded my first ace. One of my playing partners, who has recorded two aces, asked as we finished the round, "So, which is better - a hole-in-one or a birdie?" It took me only a moment of reflection to reply, " I prefer a birdie!" As much fun as holing out my 8-iron was, I get more satisfaction from stringing together 2, 3, or 4 good shots than from one special shot.
