At 51 a hole in one

I qrew up in Westen NC, with a father who had taught himself Golf on the Navy, and had taught my older brother of 6 years the game. Mostly done from hitting hours of shag balls through the neighbors cow pasture. My brother went on to play college Golf at WCU, as well as my younger cousin years later. I played on and off over the years, but chose professions not allowing time for the great game. But, two years ago, started a new job in management. A place where if production is on scheduleand nice on Friday, it is a 1:00 tee time. Salary is a good thing! I have played more in the last 2 years than at any time in my life. I had a round at my Dad and Brothers old track with my VP and my Brother. I was 1 over going into #5 which was a short par 3 playing 122. It was a two tiered, elevated geeen, with the pin placement just on the uppe tier; where any spin would take it back down to tier one. Since the green had a high back, I took pitching wegde and hit full, allowing for roll back if I went deep. Knowing my game so well, I hit it well short of being too long and instead hit 6 inches short, with a small left to right hop, and BOOM! Being older, we had to actually get to the pin to verify due to vision restrictions! We did the uncomfortable fist bump and went on. I knew my Dad, who had taught us the game of gentlemen, and passed years before, was smiling down at us.. I had done it on "That course" with "my Brother". When I posted it on social media, my young cousin that played golf all those years, and continues to play 4 to 5 times a week, posted..,hey cuz , got my first last week at 42 years old. If everyone had a bumper sticker that read, " Honk, if you got a legitimate hole in one!" The world would be a quiter place.
