Big Beautiful Drive

Big Beautiful Drive

Went golfing to celebrate family friends, Gordy and Billy, birthdays that day. It was an overcast day with rain the night prior, and because of a local high school golf match we started off the back 9 at Colonial Golf Course in Harrisburg PA. In total, there was 10 of us that showed up. I was blessed to play with my dad, an his buddy Chuck that day. It only took us about an hour and forty five minutes to play the first 9. I was playing well, making shots I wanted, and rolled a putt or two in for a final 38 (+2). We make the turn and arrive to the tee box for hole #1. A 390 yard par 4, from the white tees on most days, but on this days they had been moved up to roughly where the green tees would be. So, we are looking at 380 yard dogleg right with a slightly raised tee box. I had waited until my turn to hit my drive. I set my aim just left of the tree line, in hopes that I will set a small fade on the ball and land up by the green. I stand over the ball and make one small adjustment with my back foot as to get the slight fade I am looking for. Take the club back and swung smooth with a little "oomph" behind my swing. When the ball takes flight, it take the exact flight path I was hoping. I felt good with the shot and thought it should be up by collar of the front of the green. My dad said he thought it might end up just left, and Chuck with all his positivity said "I think that could be on the green. You have been hitting the ball really well today." The two hit their shots and we went up looking for my ball. After, not finding it where I thought, not seeing the ball on the green, an my dad not seeing the ball where he thought, I am getting a little upset as I truly felt I hit a good shot. just before the time where I would have to take a lost ball I said to myself "just check the hole, it cant hurt." When I peered my head over the edge of the cup I could see "Titleist 3" staring up at me. I threw my hands up in the air and jumped up and down for a good 45 seconds. At first I couldn't believe it so I asked the guys to double check that I did see "Titleist 3". They confirmed my sight and the hand shakes and hugs started. The adrenaline was pumping through my body and it took the next 3 holes for me to stop shaking. This was my first "ace" and just so happens to be the first ever "ace" on this hole. I ended up the day with a 73 (+1) and as I am a 9 handicap I was very happy with that score. That day will never be forgotten and at least 1/3 of the credit goes to the Titleist proV1x ball I used that day. Justin
