Ending with an Ace

Ending with an Ace

My regular golf buddies Jack, Luca, and Steve and I play in the Palm Beach County team competitions each year. The first tournament of this season was at Okaheelee Golf Course. We began the shotgun on the seventh hole. After grinding our way through 17 holes to 10 under (a score which is two to four shots above our typical performance) We arrived at our finishing hole number six. Our group plays from three different tee boxes to account for our ages. Today the blue tees were playing 180 yards to a middle flag. I was third up and we did not have any balls on the green as yet. I selected a six iron, teed up a Prov1x #2 and made a good last swing of the day. The ball rose quickly tracking just left of the flag, you know when it comes off the club that you made a good swing. As we all were watching it in the air the guys said - looks good, it may be close. Waiting as the ball landed about a yard and a half from the flag, bounce/skip up once to the right, hit the flag stick and disappeared. Last shot of the day - an ACE to move to 12 under! I have seen aces in the past and had a few near aces over the years, and was resigned that perhaps I may never get one. So, my first Hole in One surrounded by my best golf buddies on the last hole of the tournament a perfect ending (-oh and the only skin of the day) - pretty sure I'll remember this story.
