I was playing in the 2016 Lend a hand Saskatchewan Golf Classic at Dakota Dunes Golf Course just outside Saskatoon Saskatchewan. The Hole was the 17th a par three under a heavy wind. The hole was sponsored by Ens Auto in Saskatoon for a 2016 Toyota Corolla sports edition. I was playing with my girlfriends brother Troy Burke and a fella we met for the first that day by the name of Byron Eberle. Byron was a little concerned with the heavy winds that day and where the tournament people parked the car that he was destined to hit the car and he wanted to know in that scenario who has to pay for that? He tee'd up and sure enough the ball followed the wind right towards the car as he yelled aloud, "see that's what I'm talking about." Fortunately enough the ball came to rest just short of the car and Byron's mind was set at ease. I was next, the wind was howling from left to right and I then looked at the Ens Auto sign at the tee box and said to the others in my group, "I'm not going to lie fellas, I could sure use a new car today." I tee'd up my Titleist NXT Tour and hit a frozen rope right at the pin and the man standing with a lady that I found out later to be his wife behind the hole. The green and hole was blocked by some tree tops so all that could be see was the top of the pin blowing in the wind. After I hit the shot I remember saying to the witness standing their behind the hole, "move, jump, do something to let me know if it's close," but I knew the wind would not allow my words to get through. Just then this man, stone faced from my perspective put one arm straight in the air. I turned to the guys in my group and we all said, "what does that mean?" I figured it was just close and that had it gone in he would have surely had a much bigger reaction. Byron decided he needed to go on ahead and find out what one arm in the air means and speed off towards the green as we followed behind. When we got their i noticed there was no ball on the green and proceeded to sheepishly grab my putter. Byron noticed as we where walking towards the green that the lady was scurrying towards us with a camera in her hand. As we got closer and the witness got closer he asked me, "what are you doing with that putter in your hand?" I responded, "I don't know." It was then that he revealed, "it's in the hole!" We jumped and screamed, hugged each other in jubilation as we celebrated and then of course made our way to the hole to find my Titleist sitting there waiting for me to be snatched up and ultimately do what most of us waiting our whole lives to do and that's mark a 1 in the box on the score card. I did it.......yes!!!!! After the celebration and pictures snapping, I remember turning to Robert the witness and asking, "what just happened?" He then said, "you won the car!!!" And then the second round of screaming and yelling began. The organizer of the tournament was called and came down to the hole to confirm what I had done was true. I wanna thank Troy Burke for asking me to go to the tournament, MacDermid Lamarsh law office for hosting the charity event for Canadian deaf blind Assoc. and for sponsoring the hole with the beautiful Ens Auto Toyota. and of course Titleist for the ball and club I used to get it done, What a way to get the first one out of the way!!!!
