First Hole-In-One
By Sean G On July 15, 2015
It was a normal Wednesday night league at Townsend Ridge CC. Four-ball format and shotgun start. We tee off on 2 and my partner halves the hole with a par while I make a lackluster bogey.
Step onto the 3rd tee box. Pin is back left and playing slightly downwind so an accessible hole location. Use my laser and shoot it at 118 (officially 126 on the scorecard) and I ask my partner if my 115 club should be good here. So he asks, "56 degree wedge?" I nod in agreement and grab the club out of my bag. Good feel over the ball and make great contact. About halfway to the hole my partner says "That should be good."
When it lands, everyone in our group knows it has a chance, and the ball quickly disappears. Perfect one hop and in the hole. I go nuts, hug my partner, high-five my opponents. Everyone on the 6th tee has a clear view of the madness.
Worst part, I was in such shock that I teed off WITH THE HOLE-IN-ONE BALL on the 4th tee. Thank the stars I kept it in play and we were able to swap it out on the 5th tee-box.
We win our match 1 UP...the hole-in-one was the difference in the match.
