Hole in one at Member Member Tournament
By John B On September 22, 2016
On September 10th, 2016, we began our team match on the par 3 16th hole at Hawk Pointe Golf Club. I was the first to tee off. Tees were back, pin was middle green, 175 yards out, slight wind in face. This is our most difficult par 3 on the course. It was 170 yards carry to the green on the line to the pin. I hit my 21 degree 913h hybrid using a monogrammed prov1x (all titleist) with a slight draw tracking straight at the pin. It took two hops and disappeared. The pin was down in a slight valley so the cup wasn't visible. I thought I had a kick in birdie putt. My partner wasn't convinced I got on the green. Everyone else hits their tee balls, two go left of green, one goes right into the hazard. We roll up to the green and my partner says "see no ball on green, you're probably in the rough". As I'm helping our opponent search for his ball in the hazard, I tell him look in the hole. He says yeah, right, but walks over and exclaims "OMG it's in the hole." My first one ever after 11 years playing golf. A truly memorable experience, and an expensive one at the tavern room after play finished buying drinks for a clubhouse full of members. I truly enjoyed sharing it with everyone. A great day.
