Our foursome of Steve Lorimer, John Yost, Tim Glenham and myself were absolutely
worn out due to the 90+ degree heat as we approached Number 16 at Springfield
Golf Club in Fort Mill SC on August 4, 2015. As we approached the tee box, I remembered dreaming
about this hole the night before. It is my usual custom the night before playing,
going to sleep thinking about the course and going over each hole.
I dreamed that on this hole, I made a hole-in-one!
As we approached the tee box, I dared not say anything to my buddies for fear of
hexing myself. The #16, par 3, 134 yard is a straight on hole with a slightly elevated green.
I hit the Titleist Velocity clean and sharp as it made its way in a high arch slowly closing in
from left to right and coming down on the pin. Those of us on the box saw it bounce
but because of the slightly elevated green did not actually see it go in the hole. Steve
Lorimer was up beside the green since he had already teed off from the senior tees.
All of a sudden we hear Steve screaming and running out onto the green "It's in the hole!"
Wow! A hole-in-one! Thanks, Titleist for the feel and accuracy of the Velocity ball!
