Hole in one on a par 4!!!!

Hole in one on a par 4!!!!

I'm a 28 year old low digit handicap that makes a lot of mistakes but can hit the ball far because I'm tall and have been playing golf since I was 3 years old. I had never had a hole in one before in my life until Saturday May 25th. The wind was non existent on one of my favorite holes, #16 at Jackson Park Golf Course. The hole is 311 yards from the back tees(where I was playing) and slightly downhill, and if there is no wind against me I usually go for the green, but it is a 295-300 yard carry to clear the water and very risky. I wasn't playing particularly well so I went for it with my 913 D3 Driver and ProV1 golf ball. I hit a high cut just like I wanted right at the pin and immediately the words "be good" left my mouth. I saw the ball bounce next to the flag and thought "perfect I'll have an eagle putt or easy chip if I just went over the green." My three playing partners started saying as we were walking up, "I don't see your ball man." I personally thought it had gone over the green but it had been raining the entire time on the front nine so I was confused as to why it didn't stop since the greens were soft and the pin was front that day, and I saw it land right next to the pin(I hit the drive very high and solid). My heart started racing as I approached the green and even ran in front of my playing partners who had laid up in the fairway(the smart play). I peeked into the hole and saw my ball and threw my hat off and just held my hands on my head I didn't know what to say or how to react! I not only got my first hole in one but my first albatross as well!!!! And the crazy thing was my ball mark was behind the flag(as shown in the pic)! I spun it backwards into the hole with a driver from 311 yards!! I was so excited I just started calling my friends and family to tell them what had happened and even now I still can't believe it! I may have used up all my luck for the rest of my life but I haven't smiled so much in a long time, what an incredible feeling it was to see that ball in the hole. -Nick Long
