This course is not my home course, but I'd played it many times over the past few years. I'd not been having a very good round of golf that day and was happy that we only had 2 more holes to play. I walked over to the tee box and looked at the red flag on the green which was across the water and sits between 2 sand traps. The distance was between 2 clubs for me - either an 8 or a 7 iron. I chose the 8 which would probably mean I'd be short. But I'd rather be chipping and/or putting uphill, as opposed to putting downhill if I used my 7 (assuming it would land on the green). I put the ball on the tee, took my usual practice swing, and hit the ball. I made really good contact and watched as it sailed toward the green. Not only did it hit on the green - which was a shocker - but it started rolling left toward the pin. I told it to "Go In...Go In....Go In" and then, to my surprise IT DID!!! I was jumping up and down, my fiancé who was my playing partner was equally as excited, as were the people on the #18 tee box who witnessed it and the group on the #16 green. I forgot about how bad I'd been playing up until that point and had a huge smile on my face the rest of the day. What a great feeling. I still owe a round of drinks at the 19th Hole - but I'll happily pay up the next time I'm there.
