In on the fly
By Wendy W On May 20, 2014
I've been dreading par 3s for quite some time...my head and my irons have not had a working relationship! Anyway, on this day, I was excited to walk up to the tee box on #8 because there was a strong head wind. The hole plays normally 135 but on this windy day, it was more like 150-155. HOORAY! Ditch the iron and use a 6 hybrid! I have a softball swing from my fast-pitch days but I decided to throw caution to the wind (haha) and grip it and rip it! It was a very pretty ball flight and it was heading right at the pin but the hole itself was hidden by a wicked pin placement. The elevation of the green combined with the pin placement did not let me witness anything so when we walked up to the green, I just assumed it was in the water, since it wasn't on the green. In fact, I was going to "fake it" and just pretend I got a hole in one. Imagine my surprise when the ball was in the cup! I damaged the cup (see picture) as it went in on the fly....So happy. This game continually teases me back for more. We have a love/hate relationship like most golfers I'm sure. This hole in one will keep me coming back for more...until I have to use a lot of irons that is!!! Hit 'em straight everyone!
