Par 4 in 1

My friend Brand and I were paired with a third gentleman from Orange County California. It was a slower day, a five hour round even. It occurred 17th hole at Windy Knoll G.C. in Springfield, Ohio. The 17th hole is a 300 yard Par-4. This day it was playing approximately 275 yards. Using a driver and a Titleist Veolcity, with the sun setting Brand hit a slight left to right fade into the wind. He played the shot off the side of the hill directly adjacent the right of the green. We assumed that he would be short right and could not locate his ball. The gentleman that was paired with us from O.C., Conrad, said, "There is one here in the hole." He assumed that Brad had chipped in from the rough while he was searching for his ball. We asked Brad, over in the rough, what he was playing. He responded, "Titleist Velocity with a blue logo on the side." Sure enough in the bottom of the cup was this ball, Titleist Velocity with a blue logo and numbered 11. I remember tossing him this ball a number of time following his putts that day. We were all speechless. Conrad was also in awe, an out-of-towner that got paired with two strangers, had just witnessed something fantastic, and almost mythical in the amateur recreational golf world. The next hole was a 176 yard Par-3 over water. Brad wanted to hit his hole-in-one ball in hopes it could be back to back. I convinced him not to. He put his tee shot in the water. Then he teed up his ace ball. He stuck the shot and one put for his bogey. Brad beat me by four shots shooting a -1 70. This was his second Ace in his life. However, he informed me it was his first on a Par-4. Needless to say, drinks were on Brad!
