With my wife out of town for the Mother's day weekend, I decided to treat myself with a weekend of golf at Rams Hill in Borrego Springs California. I arrived just before noon on a Saturday for a 2:00 PM Tee Time. After a few hits on the range I tee'd off as a single. Temperature was in the mid 80's with gusty winds all day long. I was playing a better than average round for me as a 12 handicap. As I approached the 16th Tee Box, I could see that there was a slight cross wind for my 163 yard shot. The fairway and green slanted slightly to the right I took aim half a green width to the left. The left side was protected with a large bunker as was the entire right side. My normal club would have been a #7 Iron but with the wind I decided to club up to a #6 and swing a little easier. The ball sailed almost perfectly to where I was aiming to over a small mound in front of the green. I saw one hop and then the ball disappeared behind the mound. As I approached I did not see a ball on the green and immediately thought I had succumbed to the right hand slant of the green and possible ended up in the right hand green bunkers. After looking to no avail I thought I may have overshot the green by clubbing up. As I started to walk towards the back of the green I notice a new divot about 2 feet to the left of the pin. Without hesitation I returned to my cart to get my phone for a video. I tracked the flight of the ball from tee to green and then approached the divot. As I got to the divot I could feel the anxiety of what I expected to see in the hole. I passed my camera pass the divot and over the hole. There was ProV1x in all it's glory. Without leaning over I looked up and all around to see if anyone was watching. No joy! Not a single person was looking my way. I let out a loud moan and collected my ball from the hole. I felt someone deprived that no one saw this, but then neither did I. Upon completion the cart attended was joking with me, "did you get any Birdies?" That's when it hit me that this was going to be the first person that I would share my experience with. I responded no, but I got a Hole in One! The attendant looked at me in disbelief and then I showed him my card. I entered the Pro Shop still in shock and approached the desk. The Head Pro was there with the Starter and asked if I needed anything. Still not knowing what to say I said, "I just got a hole in one, what do I do now?" The Pro pulled out a course flag, signed it with the details and presented to me. As I walked into the bar, the bartender was the first to comment on my flag. He asked what I wanted to drink to celebrate and all I could say was, "Hey everyone, the drinks are on me!" It was a great day.
