Skill, luck or both; either way a big surprise.

I've owned clubs for years but never played more than once every 3-4 years. I've been happily retired and living much of the year on the Outerbanks,NC where golf is very popular for almost the entire year. I decided, with encouragement from my friend Neil, to take lessons which I diligently did over the winter. (Neil passed away last year and this hole in one is dedicated to him.) On May 19, 2016, on a beautiful Outerbanks day, I hit my first hole in one witnessed by my golfing partner Mike. It was an 126 yard par three hole. I used a 8 iron and a Titleist 2 ball. I think he was as excited as I was. He witnessed the card and had me sign it as well. We played on and that, for the first time, I reached my goal of breaking 100 and went beyond to break 90. Fantastic day!
