I had an exceptional year in 2002. I was 55 years old and had set some goals for the year that I wasn't sure I could fulfill. Those goals were: 1) shoot a 300 game in bowling; 2) shoot a hole-in-one; 3) play Pinehurst #2; 4) play Pebble Beach. On Mother's Day (5/12/02), I got my hole-in-1! It was a 179 yard 4-iron shot, which actually went into the hole on the fly, tearing out part of the cup on the way in! A marshal was sitting in his cart watching at the time and proceeded to tell everyone on the course, so I thought it was going to cost me a small fortune to buy everyone a round. However, since it was Mother's Day, the bar was CLOSED!. How funny is that. By the way, I played Pinehurst #2 in September, shot a 299 game in bowling in Oct and visited Pebble Beach in November, but didn't have a chance to play. (I did end up playing the course on my retirement trip in 2009.) Again, what a year!
