Robert Karlsson and his Scotty Cameron by Titleist putter

Following up on the question from Jack McMahon, we caught up with Robert Karlsson on the range to talk to him about the specs of his Scotty Cameron by Titleist putter. He uses a Studio Stainless Newport 2 putter that is 37" with 4° of loft. Robert is 6'5" so all of his clubs are extra length. Robert also picked up his purple Custom Shop headcover at the Cameron Putter Studio during the week of the WGC-Accenture Match Play. He told us that he doesn't like when putter headcovers lose their color in the sun and he also doesn't like when they're boring. That's why he's got purple. For the record, he previously had a pink putter headcover. This is Robert's first time playing Doral since a round seventeen years ago just after he turned professional. So he's looking forward to the tournament this week.

Robert was using the Grafalloy Blue X-stiff in the 907D2 at standard length and lie.

Curious to know what model shaft (make & flex) Robert was using with his 907D2?

Also, is the lie adjusted on this driver & woods to accommodate for his tall stature?

I'm looking to add some length to my irons. I'm 6'5" and a low handicapper, but have been battling back issues. Your previous comment regarding Robert's specs would suggest a 5-iron at 39.5" (+1.5") with a lie angle of 63 degrees (1 up) using the Z Muscle specs. Is this correct? Additionally, at that length, does additional weight need to be removed from the head to achieve D7 swingweight? Especially in the shorter clubs/wedges, etc. Thanks.

Those specs are correct with regard to ZM irons at +1.5" and 1° upright. In terms of overlength clubs, we do use lighter weight heads when building custom irons over standard length. If you have questions about which specs may be correct for you, please be sure to consult an Authorized Titleist FittingWorks Partner.

Robert's irons are 1° upright on the lie angles, with swingweights in the D-7 to D-7.5 range. Robert uses Dynamic Gold SL shafts in his irons to help keep the weight down somewhat on his overlength clubs.

Hi, what are Robert's swingweights and lie angles? Thanks.

I am 6ft 9in tall and have custom irons that are 3 inches over standard. How do I find a good putter length and driver length? Do you have any suggestions or should I get them 3 inches over as well?

  9. Robert Sellman

Thanks for the specs of 1.5" over standard for his irons. Curious to know what his lie angle adjustment (irons) might be, if any. Thank you.

Robert has a standard 45" shaft in his driver. His irons, however, are 1.5" over standard.
