Team Titleist Shots of the Year: Louis Oosthuizen Edition

Albatross. Double-Eagle. No matter which name you prefer, it's no doubt one of the rarest scores in golf.

Add in a dash of excitement from The Masters, along with a pinch of the awe-inspiring surroundings found at Augusta National Golf Club, and you have the recipe for Louis Oosthuizen’s most memorable shot of 2012.

After driving his Titleist Pro V1x in the fairway on Augusta National's second hole, Louis looked down at his golf ball, situated on a downhill lie, 265 yards from the green.

Most golfers in that situation think about where to lay up. Louis' sights were set on the green. Make that the flagstick.

He pulled his 4-iron, took aim, and the rest is history.

“The ball did exactly what I wanted it to do. It came out (with) a nice strong flight. And pitched front edge which we were playing for,” said Louis. “Then the green did all the work from there.”

Did we mention it was Masters Sunday?

The exact odds of making a double-eagle (or albatross) are a little unclear. Some say it's as high as 6 million-to-1. More modest estimates come in around 1 million-to-1.

One thing we can all agree on: Louie’s shot is definitely a highlight of 2012.

Watch the video above to hear what he had to say and stay tuned for our next installment of the 2012 Team Titleist Shots of the Year.

Certainly, a shot for the record books made by one of the smoothest swings in golf.
