Prototype Testing the #1 Ball in Golf

Video no longer available

Before a Titleist golf ball ever lands on the shelves of your local pro shop, it must gain approval from a very important group of passionate golfers – members of Team Titleist.

Not too long ago, when the new 2013 Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls were still in the Research & Development phase, we invited a group of Team Titleist members to test white box prototype golf balls, give feedback, and truly take part in the R&D process for the #1 ball in golf.

As part of the player testing and evaluation process, we hit the road and spent some time with members from across the country to answer questions, gather feedback and witness the testing first-hand.

Each stop along the way we met golfers of all skill levels and swing speeds. So check out the video above to see some of the sights and sounds we captured from your fellow Team Titleist members and remember to keep sharing your feedback!

In the meantime, thank you to all of the Team Titleist members who participated in our white box testing. Whether you were on camera or submitted feedback via e-mail, Twitter or otherwise, we really appreciate all of your help and we hope you enjoyed being a part of the process.

And if you’re wondering how you can take part in a future product test panel like this, remember the more you participate and the more engaged you are with Team Titleist--from posting in the discussions and adding blog comments to completing your profile--the better your chances are at potentially opening the doors to these exclusive Team Titleist opportunities.

Wasn't able to test the balls sent until this past weekend.  I enjoyed the distance off the tee, and the grab on greens with wedge shots.  The feel on the putter was a bit stiff.  Overall the ball I tested is one I would purchase, if on the market.

How do I get the new proV prototype ball?

Sorry it's taken so long but  N.W. England hasn't been good golfing country for the last few weeks. Anyway the red #1 test balls are great. I love the feel off the clubface with all clubs, not too "clicky" on full shots and not too soft round the greens. The spin gives a really nice stop on holding greens and the low levels of sidespin on full shots is most welcome. I'd love to know which balls I tested when they come out as I think they could be a favourite for 2016. Thank you Team Titleist

I have just retired and am looking to improve my game this year I play off 14 and have just straightened a bad slice. I usually play whatever is in the bag but wonder if  a specific ball may help to improve my game.

Love the new prototype. Ball seemed to have higher trajectory though. For me, that is perfect as I have a naturally low-boring iron shot anyway.

    Titleist AP2s, -1.5deg loft, Project X 6.0 shafts.

The ball spun a little too much around the greens but I have no complaints generally speaking. I imagine Titleist will produce two versions of this ball (one for higher and one with lower trajectory)

Would love to get my hands on a few more sleeves of the prototypes and test on dry courses.

I would really be interested in helping test equipment.  My entire bag is full of titleist.  I play 712 cb and 913 woods.  And never without my pro v's

Hi, would you consider making pro v1 in a bright orange color?  I am a avid golfer in the Pacific Northwest where it tends to be dark during the day I the off summer months.  I have found that colorful balls are easily seen.  I love the pro v1 but have been using other brands due to the color option.

Thank you for sending me test balls. I have played 5 rounds with them. The balls are durable and they perform great. I really enjoyed being apart of the testing. Thanks again !
