Major Splash at the ANA Inspiration for Pernilla Lindberg

Sweden's Pernilla Lindberg (Pro V1) made her first LPGA victory count as she claimed the first major of the LPGA season, prevailing in a marathon playoff at the ANA Inspiration in Palm Springs.

It took eight extra holes and an overnight delay due to darkness at Mission Hills Country Club, but Lindberg finally broke the deadlock, holing a 25-foot putt for birdie on the par-four 10th hole that her fellow competitor could not match.

"It felt like too big a dream to come true but it has," Lindberg said. "I remember writing some goals in high school about the dream scenario to win a major and leave a mark in history. We're going to have so many good memories to share for the rest of our lives. Hopefully tell our future family about."

Titleist golf ball loyalist Jennifer Song (Pro V1x), who was also part of the play-off after finishing at 15-under, was eliminated after a par on the third extra hole.

Lindberg, whose previous best result at a major was a tie for fifth at the 2015 US Open, led for all four rounds of the ANA Inspiration.

Congratulations, Pernilla!
