PGA TOUR

For the second time in three events, Titleist achieved the feat of sweeping every major equipment category at a PGA TOUR event, according to Darrell Survey.

  • From golf balls (103) to drivers (44), fairways (65), hybrids (25) and utility irons (29), to irons (43), wedges (219) and putters (47), Titleist was the brand of choice with more players in each category at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
  • Two weeks ago, Titleist swept the counts at the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship.
  • During the shortened 2019-20 season, Titleist was the favorite across every equipment category five times. No other brand has ever swept every major equipment category in PGA TOUR history.

TITLEIST INTRODUCES NEXT GENERATION PRO V1 AND PRO V1X GOLF BALLS IN LAS VEGAS

Titleist took another step forward in its relentless pursuit of superior golf ball technology and performance, introducing New Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls to PGA Tour players for use in competition at this week’s Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

  • Titleist Golf Ball R&D representatives were on site at TPC Summerlin to work with players who were interested in testing the new prototype products and determine which model best fits their game.
  • This week a total of 12 players put the new ball in play — evenly divided six and six between the New Pro V1 and Pro V1x.
  • Abraham Ancer, who played the New Pro V1 in competition for the first time – was the highest finisher of those who played the new prototypes with a solo 4th.

EUROPEAN

Tyrrell Hatton (Pro V1x) claimed his third Rolex Series title — this time at the BMW PGA Championship — earning a dream victory at his home tournament that inspired him to be a professional.

  • The Englishman, who turns 29 this Wednesday, regularly attended this event as a child. This marks his first victory on home soil.
  • Hatton closed with his fourth consecutive round in the 60’s, a 5-under par 67 en route to a 19-under 269 victory total, four clear of runner-up Victor Perez (Pro V1). The win marked Hatton’s fifth career European Tour crown and it also elevated him to eighth in the Race to Dubai Rankings. Hatton won the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March for his breakthrough win in the United States.
  • "It's been a dream of mine since I was a kid to play the tournament and hopefully win it one day, and thankfully this year is my year," said Hatton. "My short game has been really good all week, and just a nice way to sign off."
  • With the win, Hatton is poised to move into the Top 10 of the Official World Golf Rankings.
  • Andy Sullivan (Pro V1x) shared third place, another shot back, with the Race to Dubai Rankings leader and 2018 Masters champion (Pro V1).
  • Titleist Brand Ambassador Ian Poulter (Pro V1x, TSi3 driver, 917F2 and TSi2 fairway metals, U500/T100/718 AP2 irons, Vokey Design SM8 gap, sand and lob wedges) rounded out the top 5 at 13-under, all of whom make Titleist their golf ball choice.
  • In fact, eight of the top nine players played the Pro V1 or Pro V1x for their success. The winner also put a pair of new Vokey Design wedges — an SM8 sand (54°) and lob (60°) — in play for the first time this week.

TSI DRIVER SUCCESS

The TSi3 was the most played driver model at Wentworth with 26 in play with the next closest individual model at 17.

LPGA

Sei Young Kim (Pro V1) captured the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and her first major title after a closing 7-under par 63 — the best round of the week — gave her a 14-under 266 victory total.

  • Now an 11-time winner on the LPGA Tour, with 16 victories worldwide, she has won at least once each year since 2015.
  • Kim topped a leaderboard that saw nine Titleist golf ball players among the 12 players who finished in the Top 10 and ties.
  • Last November, Kim sank a 25-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole at the CME Group Tour Championship to take home a $1.5 million winner’s check, the largest payday in women’s golf history.
  • Titleist hits 80% in ball count: Titleist golf balls were the choice of more than 80% of the 132-player field. With 106 players relying upon the performance and consistency of the Pro V1 and Pro V1xTitleist golf balls were played by more than nine times the nearest competitor with 11.

KORN FERRY

Trey Mullinax (Pro V1x) captured the Korn Ferry Tour’s 2020 season-ending Orange County National Championship, carding a 23-under 261 to finish one clear of Titleist Brand Ambassador Brandon Wu and Stephan Jaeger (Pro V1).

  • Mullinax, who birdied two of the last three holes (Nos. 16 and 18) to secure the victory, has now posted three Top 10’s in his past five starts.
  • Wu has earned five top-10’s in his nine starts this season and this week he put the new TSi3 driver in play for the first time in competition. Here's his complete Titleist setup:
Pro V1 golf ball, New TSi3 driver, TS2 fairway metal, U500 utility iron, T100 irons, Vokey Design SM8 wedges and Scotty Cameron 009 putter
  • Titleist golf ball players won 14 events during the 2020 season, double the nearest competitor with 7.

KOREA

Titleist Brand Ambassador TaeHoon Kim captured the Genesis Championship to claim his fourth career KPGA Tour title. Kim posted a 6-under par 282 victory total, edging fellow Titleist Brand Ambassadors JaeKyeong Lee by two shots, and JunWon Park by four.

  • Kim topped a leaderboard on which nine (9) of the 11 players who finished among the top and ties relied upon Titleist golf balls for their success, including six Titleist Brand Ambassadors.
  • With his win, Kim earned an invitation to this week’s CJ CUP, being played at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas, as well as the 2021 Genesis Invitational at Riviera.
  • Titleist was the most played golf ball at the event with 91 players (76%) in the field of 120, more than seven times the nearest competitor with 12. Titleist was also the top choice across the driver (51/43%), iron (51/43%) and wedge (222/69%) categories.

LATINOAMERICA

Justin Doeden (Pro V1) made a 35-foot birdie putt at No. 9 to jump-start his final round and then added four more back nine birdies (Nos. 11, 13, 16, 18) to win the Classic at The Club at Weston Hills by two shots. The tournament marked the final full-field LOCALiQ Series.

  • Doeden started the final round three shots behind the overnight leader, but closed with his third consecutive 5-under par 67 en route to a 15-under victory total. His winning five-foot putt was set up by a 100-yard wedge shot over water.
  • “That is where it sunk in,” said Doeden. “This is probably the biggest moment of your career. Sure, it was a 100-yard wedge shot. I’ve hit a million of those. But for some reason as I took the trigger back, something wouldn’t let me take it back. So, I backed off, took a deep breath, pulled the trigger and hit it to five feet.”  It was the shot that essentially cemented the title.
