High spin, low spin, no spin..I don't care what anyone says, that putt Nick made at 16 was clutch.  He can look back and say that was the defining moment for his tournament.

Although Nick is considered a low spin player, his ball speed is well above even the Tour average (170-180 mph with driver). That much ball speed on its own generates enough spin to keep the ball airborne. Adding loft to his irons is helping Nick hit…

Nick and Adam are, in fact, both low launch/low spin players.  Nick's spin is not excessively low, however, and his driver ball speed can range from a stock 170 mph to an all-out 180 mph.  At those speeds, spin is not as much of a concern to keep the…

Don't you mean that Nick is a low launch/high spin player?  Thus the reason for playing an 80 gram X stiff low spin shaft and a Pro V1x?  I was always under the impression that Adam Scott was the one who had a hard time generating enough spin.

If both Adam and Nick are Low/Low guys why would Nick choose the ProV1x over the Pro V1? I'm also a Low/Low guy and of course my speed isn't at Tour level but I too seem to have gotten more distance from the '05 ProV1x but now the '07 Pro V1. Is feel…

Congrats Nick. I have noticed a trend lately among players, notably Watney and Adam Scott, that their irons are weakened 1 degree.  What is the idea behind this and what benefits do they gain?

Nick and Adam are both low launch/low spin players. Too little spin on iron shots can result in both loss of distance and control.  Weakening the lofts in their irons allows these players to optimize their launch conditions with the irons. For more on…
