    To try and keep the swing on plane, I’ve been down the footy field hitting 7,9,PW.

    I agree, shot dispersion is the key for me. However, I would add a "but". If the distances are really, really different then I might consider distance as the key. If the distances are reasonably close then give me the fairway every time.
