If you shorten the shaft by 1/2 in. to 44.50. Which is the driver length I use. For each 1/2 inch shorter the swingweight will be reduced by 3 points. Add 2 grams of weight to head for each point. 6 grams would be correct. A repair shop will have to add…

The Rules exist to ensure fair play, not something to be used to defend a bruised ego. I don't believe there was anything wrong here. Personally, I'd ask the USGA, as, if this ruling is indeed unfair, it may cause that gentleman to alter his pre shot…
