Yes you are correct. The AVX feels a bit softer off the clubface. Ideally you want to play the same ball year-round, but I know what you're saying when playing in cold weather. If it feels good, do it.

It's not the glove. It's your grip. The hole in the palm area is caused by friction. Most likely the end of the club is slightly shifting position in your grip during the swing.
