You can but it may need to be cut down and a different tip installed. In all honesty it may be easier to pick up a ready to fit shaft from your local shop

I had a prov1 turn a light greenish color because the course I was playing on had seeded parts of the green and used a green color in some of the bare areas on a few greens. It even turned the botton of my spikes also a light green color. So maybe there…

I've never played the 981, but I saw some pictures- they're a nice clean cavity back. I play the 716 CB and they look pretty close. I love my 716 CB. Give it a try.
