  1. My friends and are are heading to Hilton Head in early March and I wanted to know what are the Top 5 courses to play while we are there.  The handicaps range from 13-28 so we don't want anything too challenging.  Thanks

Great choice.  I love HHI and I'm sure you will have a good time as well.

First and foremost, you need to play Harbor Town.  It is expensive and will kick your rumps, but it is well worth it.  So start saving your milk money now .  I hear that the two newly renovated courses at Sea Pines--the Heron and Ocean courses-- are very good also. I do not have personal experience with them however.   Don't make the same mistake as I.  Play them at the tail end of your trip after you've had a chance to loosen up and get some rounds under your belt.

You can save some money by playing some of the off island courses.  Good deals can be had on Golf Now or in the local coupon books.  My favorites are HH National, Old South, Eagles Pointe, Crescent Pointe. On plantation courses like Oyster Reef, Indigo Run, and the RTJ Palmetto Dunes course are also very good.

I tend to stay away from the Port Royal and Shipyard courses because they lag in conditioning.

These are all public courses.  There are several outstanding private facilities that I could recommend.  However, you need to have connections to get on them.

    Have fun...
