Wife grew up Texas, I am from Utah. Planning a family trip down to San Antonio when my daughter gets out of school for the year.

Looking to find some good golf courses to go play in or around San Antonio.

I've been slow making my way through the SA courses and I second Dr. K's suggestions. Add to them The Quarry which played well last week and the LaCantera courses are solid plays. Brackenridge gets a lot of mentions and while I enjoyed it I felt there's a lot of hype around it too. Good luck and let us know what you end up playing.

  4. It depends on how good you are. All of the courses listed are very good. I really liked the Quarry. I am about a 15-20 handicap at the moment. I like the Golf Club of Texas since it was redone. It is pretty wide open. There are still rough areas on the greens that need spring to grow in. The Hyatt Hill Country Golf Club has 3 nine-hole courses that are the hardest I have ever played. They play 3100-3200 yards from the blue (Tournament) tees and 3400-3500 yards from the black (Championship) tees. All three are very narrow looking but landing areas are pretty wide. I play with a club in the evenings that tees off from the Tournament tees. They are harder than any of the Doral, Torrey Pines, or Barefoot Resort courses for me. If you can shape and place the ball at will, those three would be very fun for you.

Thanks for the input. My index in 6.9. I am excited to play down there. Will be down for a week or so, so will have to play a few courses.

    Thanks again.
