Does anyone know what finish allows the grooves on the new SM5 wedges to last the longest and the reasons for the answers. Any information would be awesome because I am looking to buy a new set and love the look of all the finishes, I'd like them to last as long as possible.
  2. Tour Chrome would my best guess however Kathi or the group at Titleist I am certain will respond as always! The Gold Nickel used to be raw in the SM4's so therre is no protection and the RAW Black I believe is similar so the Tour Chrome would have a layer to protect the finish and thus grooves.

    Great question!

The Tour chrome would be the most durable.  The Gold nickel is plated on the SM5 wedges and will last a long time as well.  All three finishes have a special heat treatment on the groove area which will increase the durability of the groove edge radius with no discernible difference in feel.  A wedge with the heat treatment will keep its spin retention for twice as long as a non heat treated wedge..

Tour Chrome it is, thanks a tune for the information
  5. Does this mean that if I want that rusty, extra feel in my wedge like the good old days I should get the raw black one? :)
