Rifle shaft replacement

Chris T

Can the rifle 1 iron shaft be butt trimmed to any shaft length ? I got my hands on a few and want to use them in my wedges. Thanks @SupermanCT

The reason the Rifle shafts are labeled for specific irons is that they are frequency matched for that head. A one iron head is considerably lighter than a wedge head. If you use that heavier head on a shaft designed for a lighter head, the finished club will play to a much softer flex(possibly as low as ladies flex). You may also have to cut so much length off at the butt end that the tip end of the grip will reach the taper of the shaft and be loose or not sized properly in that section. The club will be functional but probably not feel or perform the way you want it to.
