Guys I purchased a new 917 F2 last night. I went through golf galaxy and they suggested a Fujikura Xstiff flex. I hit pretty well on the computer, but I am wondering if xstiff is too much for me. I hit my driver 250-320 depending on how square I hit it. I am newer to golf but I am large and 29 so I tend to have to slow my swing down. Any input on if I was fitted correctly would be great.

    Thanks

Where is the ball going? Normally a driver shaft too stiff will go high right.

My own personal experience at a GG was two-fold. They offered no advice on my swing, and they determined the best fit also happened to be in stock. In my case, they didn't try fitting a higher launch shaft even though the angle was not optimal. They don't stock those on the rack. Getting fit at Oceanside for a 917 gained me 20 yards as a result. My local coach is also a fitter at a Titleist Premier location. The fitting isn't just about equipment, minor swing tweaks are included. At the end we've tried a couple of approaches and my questions have been answered. I walk away comfortable with the choice.
  4. Sorry, but no one on here is gonna be able to tell if you were fit correctly. During your fitting, you should have hit other flex shafts, and if not, then go get another fitting! If you hit different flexes, and they recommended an X b/c it performed best for you, then it is what it is.

First off everyone's shafts are different..(hahaha as soon as I typed that I knew it was awkward) I have always been told that I didn't have the swing speed for a Xstiff shaft, but guess whats in the driver I'm crushing with the last 9 months you guessed it X stiff...Anyway, one company's regular shaft is anothers stiff, so what i would suggest to you is test as many as shafts as you can., but test them outside. Nothing against monitors & computers but there is nothing like actually seeing the ball fly outside. So if you can wait for a Titleist Thursday or a demo day in your area thats the way to go in my opinion..HITEMSTRAIGHT...madgolfer
