Driver Shaft Weight

  1. Recently, I was fitted for a 917 F2. My fitter started with a 70g Rogue shaft that I was hooking badly, consistently. Further, my back spin was about 4200rpm on average and ball was ballooning into the air. My average distance with this shaft was 245 yards with my furthest at 260 yards. My fitter said the shaft was twisting too much and switched me to a Fujikura Speeder Tour Spec 84. This shaft instantly corrected my ball flight to a much more penetrating draw. My spin rates dropped to 2450rpm back spin and my average distance with this shaft was 285 with my furthest at 302. Surprisingly with the heavier shaft, I was using the same swing and getting 10mph more club head speed (116mph average).

I am now looking to change my driver shaft to something that will produce a more penetrating ball flight. Currently hitting a swoosh Covert 2.0 Tour head with a Kuro Kage TiNi 60g shaft. Losing some drives high and right. I have talked with my fitter and we think the Diamana whiteboard 70 Stiff will be a good fit. The only downfall is it will be trial and error when it arrives.

Any ideas on other good shafts?

Assuming you can schedule a time with your fitter and (s)he is an authorized dealer, Titleist can loan essentially any shaft in the catalog for a fitting. It's your $500, expect to get the right custom fit.
  3. Don, I will be using the same driver head on a new shaft. Looking for other possible shafts that will fit my swing well.

Sounds like you have a pretty good set up with the Titleist driver. Good numbers. If it ain't broke? You know how that goes.
  5. I agree with don!

Ah, got it, you want a shaft recommendation for the current driver, not a D2. On-lines sites like Sandbox and GolfWRX might be a better starting points for what works with swoosh drivers. My last driver from them had a square head about 10 years ago.
