Almost a season ending least most of the summer

Scott C.

On the range Friday, swinging my D3.  Heard a pop from the left wrist.  Couldn't re-grip the club.  It turns out I tore the ligaments (Class 1 Injury) in the Triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) of the wrist.  The only way to let it heal is either surgery or putting the whole arm in a cast or a splint.

That's brutal! I'm so sorry to hear. I hope you recover quickly!

I hope you heal soon, but I can tell you wrist injuries are hard on golfers. Back in the late 90's I had a tumor sitting on the artery and nerve in my left wrist,I had it removed but that didn't solve the problem and a year later they found I also had torn cartilage in the wrist. I had injured the wrist when I fell a couple of years earlier.  That's the same problem Jim Furyk and Paula Creamer have gone through and Paula has had a tough time with it. So it can be tough to deal with. If surgery is your best option for getting the wrist better, I would do it.

Sorry to hear that bud.  I was in an automobile accident in 2005.  Dislocated my right hip, shattered my right ankle, and dislocated both my left elbow and wrist.  So I understand your situation.

Get a second opinion and ask questions.  Do not settle for that's the way it will be.  Find the best doctor you can that specializes in wrists repairs and that has done many of them.  It's your body, do not settle for so, so.  Don't be afraid to push them either, they work for you and you and your insurance are paying them handsomely.

    Good luck in your recovery!

Well, six weeks turned into 12 weeks pretty quickly.  I did get the OK to start putting and a few chips here and there.  Maybe 2-3 weeks way from a real swing.  Thank goodness for the majors, but the summer was tough.

Glad to hear that you're feeling better Scott. Don't get too anxious and risk a re-injury.

    Take care,
