Monday morning me and a buddy had a tee time at 6:10 a.m. @ Shaker Hill in MA. Shaker Hill is a fun track and always enjoy playing there.. We always walk w/ a push cart and this is a hilly course, not flat at all.. It's a workout for sure.. Anyways, we teed off a little after 6:10 or so.. I mentioned to my buddy I had to go into work afterwards but didn't need to report till about 11 thinking we'll be done by 10:30 or so... Well was I off.. Walked off the 18th green around 9:13 give or take... Man I was pumped! Now that gave me time to chill with my bud at the 19th hole before heading into work..... Well, 19th hole wasn't open. Still early :)

It was a great morning and could've shot a decent score but fell apart towards the end. My bud on the other hand, shot a nice score and was fun to watch..

3 hour round, can't beat it.. I'll take it EVERY.SINGLE.DAY

Nothing better than moving around the course at a good pace.

    I like the hashtag, Tiger.

Great start to the day... if breakfast is the most important meal of the day, imagine what morning golf must be

We try to play early as well so that we can have the rest of the day for "stuff". Last weekend we teed off at 6:50 (walking foursome) and finished by 10:25 so a little over 3 1/2 hours. We were so pleased with the extra time, we stayed and ate a great breakfast :)

We have a weekend game at our course. We typically have a Captain's pick gross 2 bestball match. There are usually about 12-24 guys every weekend.

First group goes off at 8:00 am and the rest follow. First group usually in by 11:15-11:30 and last group no later than noon. We all collect scores and settle up. Small $'s but fun to mix it up picking different guys. We play a $15 Nassau...

Best part is that you can count on a 3:30 round every single time....

Good story- good pace. Quick round is always good in the early tee time.

We're not that quick when we walk as a foursome, and we take a later tee time- 8:30- 9:00ish and we get in around 4 hours.

You can't get 36 in if you don't leave time for it... ;)
  10. Love the early tee-time for several reasons, but mostly we get to witness what mother nature has to offer. For example, we had the first tee time a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday. As we were getting ready to tee-off on hole # 7, a 300lb+ Black Bear strolled across the fairway right in front of us. Also we have seen Bald Eagles, numerous deer, turkeys, foxes and the occasional skunk roaming around. The golf game sometimes isn't where we want it to be, but the wild animals we see often more than make up for a bad shot. And we have the rest of the day to spend with our families.

I tee off with the mowers every morning to squeeze in 9 before I head to the office. Can't think of a much better way to start the day!

Thanks for sharing your experience! A quick pace is always good as long as it isn't rushed. I enjoy being on the course too much to rush!

Weekend AM's after the first 3 times can just grind. If I'm doing a practice round by myself, I'll try 2-3 pm to avoid the rush/slog. On the 4th I was walking and working on a practice round and occasionally played a second ball. A player in a cart caught up to me on 8 and when I got to 10 and waiting for a group in front, he was a little irritated at my pace. I stopped feeling bad for my pace when I realized I finished walking 9 in an hour - 20 minutes. 5 hours is too long, but I would have missed a lot of the wildlife by whipping through on a cart trying for a 2 hour round.

I'm a very big fan of early, quick rounds! And it's even better when you can do it all while walking. Great stuff, Speedy.
