I have Titleist 695MB irons, the trouble is they are extremely heavy, im playing off +2 but in doesnt make much sense to me that with my Driver im up there, if not past other good golfers, but with my irons im at least a club shorter. I got them weighed the other day and they are D8, apparently most tour players irons are D1 or D2. ive got S300 shafts in their. Im not sure of these came with the clubs because i bought them 2nd-hand.

Ive uncertain whether i should just buy new irons? or if getting like KBS shafts in their would lower the swing weight to something more managable, can I lower the swing weight my that much just by putting in new shafts? Are S300 shafts known as quite heavy shafts? and probably let me get some distance back with my irons. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I probably have the least amount of knowledge of what clubs the pros play and how they are set up, thats because I simply don't care what clubs the pros play and how they have them set up. Thats because the clubs they play and how they are set up makes no difference what so ever in my game.

When playing with someone else, the only reason I would know they hit a PW 150y is because they told me.........and I'm still going to use my 7i(well this time of year 6i).

Other than always coming up short, how is the accuracy of these irons? do you hit the ball in the right direction? do you have a consistent distance?

    Drew,

Are the clubs standard length or longer than standard?  If they are slightly longer, then that would be the main reason for the clubs swing weighting out to D8.  The DG S300 are one of the heaviest steel shafts we offer.  You could get them re-shafted to KBS Tour and have the swing weight reduced by 2 points, but you would be getting a little higher launch and slightly more spin.  This may be what you need to gain a more optimal ball flight, but I would leave that up to a Club Fitter who would be able to see your ball flight and put you on a launch monitor.

    Hi Cameron

The clubs are an inch longer, I'm not sure if hitting it higher would be good for me as i already hit the ball very high, and i play in windy conditions, which makes it quite tough for me to keep the ball down. I have to take a couple of extra clubs, say for example my mates hit 7 iron into the wind, i will probably hit a punch 5 just to make sure it doesnt balloon on me.

From what im hearing lighter shafts may help me substantially but maybe I also need a more consistent strike which would also mean getting semi-blades.

    Thanks for the advise

hi Drew , you could go with a shaft change but I would spend my money on a pga pro lesson im willing  to bet you have a steep swing. im willing to go as far as saying if u flatten it just a little you'll pick up a few yards and have a more boring trajectory.

    cheers  greens and fairways
