My friend gave me a  907 D2 with an extra stiff pro force V2 shaft in it. He's a big hitter, in the 300 range consistently. I'm not do much, more in the 260-270 range. I hit the club great, nice control and everything. All my other clubs are stiff shafted.would it be of any benefit to change the shaft to a stuff flex?  More yardage? Or if it isn't broke, don't fix it?im kinda torn.

    Thanks

    Hi Ben,

You have a few options to consider

    1. It ain't broke so leave it. Good yardage and accuracy what's wrong with that?

    2.  Find someone with the same club but with a stiff shaft and see if it performs any better than yours.

    3. Take the club to a fitter and see how it stacks up with the stats. This will give you accurate figures so you can see exactly what your set up is doing.  Most importantly if it is working then you will get peace of mind to know that you don't need to change anything?

    4. While at the club fitter, Compare your driver with the new 910 model (or others).  This way you will be able to see if the latest Titleist club is better suited to you than your older model. The fitter will hopefully set you up with the best possible combination (shaft, head & adjustments) so you know exactly if the new is better than your old

if you do nothing at least you know what you have is working - for now. But when it doesn't work what then? You will start to blame the shaft and say its too stiff (exactly what my friend is doing). So by getting the stats from a fitter and comparing yours with the new stuff it will give you peace of mind to know that what you have does actually work for you (so don't change it). Or what you have doesn't work for you (so change it)

All the best on your driver journey
