    Hello,

I have just completed a fitting for a a new 909D3 Driver and have a question. the shaft that matches up with me the best that is in the fitting cart is the VooDoo for Titleist. I was only however able to try an s flex with 9.5* loft

S Flex numbers from the launch monitor

Launch avg: 12.06 w 2 degree up attack angle

    Clubhead Speed: 118

    Ball Speed: 157

    Smash factor: 1.33

    Spin: 3999

    Carry: 274

    Roll: 290

I generate alot of lag on the downswing and perhaps the s flex shaft will not unload all the way to increase the smash factor, feels like I am fluching it solid. We are thinking of using the x flex to reduce the spin, maintain the launch, and increase the smach factor, and overall carry :)

I am happy with the way the 9.5* and s flex performs on the course durring a few test holes, but like everyone want to get the most out a new driver. If i order the club with an x flex and find it is not better what is the cost to have the shaft replaced wiht an s flex?

    Thanks,

If you had Titleist reshaft it, the MSRP to reshaft the T Voodoo would be $110.00.  Spin/launch numbers seem a little high - what kind of numbers did you get off your 907 driver with the Prolite?

     I should have noted I am a +2 handicap.

With my current driver I get almost the exact same numbers with 8.5 loft and S flex, 12.5 launch and 4000 spin 275 carry. I saw across the board in all of the S flexes in the fitting cart while the launch and spin were different, the smash factor was always about the same unless I slowed down to 105 swing speed. I could certainly play the s and slow it down and hit every fairway, but I am only swinging about 85% at 120 my max swing speed I recorded in the 100 balls or so I tested with the fitting cart was 133 with three of the shaft, the voodoo, pro launch red, and pro force V2.

Ideally, my ball speed should be around 170 with 3300 spin. The Voodoo gave me the closest results, I like the heavier shaft.

I generally put a slide fade on the ball although I can hit it either way I wish. The fade generally adds about 350-400 rpm’s to the spin number.

Itseems to me that the s flex is just not stable enough to handle the speed, and based on the following table from the fitting section of Titleist’s web site

    Cause & Effect Relationships

    Launch Angle

    Backspin

    More Loft

    Increased launch angle

    Increased backspin

    Less Loft

    Decreased launch angle

    Decreased backspin

    Face Impact - Low Heel

    Decreased launch angle

    Increased backspin
    Increased fade spin

    Face Impact - Low Toe

    Decreased launch angle

    Increased backspin
    Increased draw spin

    Face Impact - High Heel

    Increased launch angle

    Decreased backspin
    Increased fade spin

    Face Impact - High Toe

    Increased launch angle

    Decreased backspin
    Increased draw spin

    Face Impact - High Center

    Increased launch angle

    Decreased backspin

    Face Impact - Low Center

    Decreased launch angle

    Increased backspin

    Stiffer Tip Shaft

    Lower launch angle

    Lower backspin

    Softer Tip Shaft

    Higher launch angle

    Higher backspin

    Stiffer Flex Shaft

    Negligible effect

    Lower backspin

    Softer Flex Shaft

    Negligible effect

    Higher backspin

    Heavier Weight Shaft

    Negligible effect

    Lower backspin

    Lighter Weight Shaft

    Negligible effect

    Higher backspin

the x flex should reduce the spin and thus increase the smash factor and overall carry. Maybe lower loft would get the ball contact higher on the face and increase launch slightly and lower the spin as well?

I'm glad you decided to go to Titleist O'side for a Tour Fit.  These guys are great and should be able to help you get your ball speed to match your clubhead speed.
