  1. Hey all,

Have any other talk men had issues with iron fittings with Titleist. Was really looking forward to getting fit for T100 yesterday when reps came to our course. Fitter was a super friendly and knowledgeable guy but there were 0 +1” shafts available for the fitting. He had me try some other shafts in +.5” but I hit almost everything a groove or two low and couldn’t get a real feel for the club. Has anyone else had this experience. Kind of put me off given that +1” shouldn’t be crazy uncommon as I’m 6’4”.

  2. +1" options are usually available, however if this was a club test instead of a fitting it isn't uncommon that multiple options were not there. When i do fittings people are able to try out different brands all at std specs. At some point one option stands out and we then fit for that club/brand with different length/lie angles until we get it dialed in. Sometimes not every option is available, a good fitter can spot fit a player on length with their ideal posture at address or any physical limitations that will influence the length of the club. Being 6'4" does not necessarily prequalify you for longer length clubs, your posture and your quality of strikes at those lengths will matter too. For example I am over 6'2" and had played +1" clubs since i was 16 (25 years ago) last month at TPI i was fit for +1/2" because my "miss" was thin - counterintuitive right? But my fitter noticed i was pulling away to "make room" for the longer club which pulled me far enough away i would catch it thin. Shortening the club instantly improved contact and i was able to stay down and through the shot. You may very well need +1" clubs, but there could be other contributing factors than just height. The fitter could have also doctored up the club to 4* up which would give it a longer feel. If you know what irons you want the demo/tech reps in your area should be able to set you up with a demo.

I consistently go to the same Titleist Product Specialist in this area. He has me dialed in at +1/2 and 2* flat. I am 6'3" and not so much with height as how I set up and length of arms. Works well with me. This year we went from stiff to regular shaft. Biiiiiiiiiiiiiig difference. Love the T300s. Trust my fitter.
  4. Every specialist can be different despite Titleist working hard to keep all things consistent. I liked the post describing finding a fitter you are comfortable with and repeating your fittings with that person/store.

I understand what you are saying. My irons/wedges are +2-inches. I can rarely demo irons in a golf shop as +2-inches are hard to find.
