Does titlest exclude people for fittings?

  1. I was recently told that titlest specifically instructed our club to invite only members that have purchased titlest clubs from our club to the latest fitting. My husband wanted to have a fitting to purchase an entire new bag of clubs. (His current bag if titlest clubs are 6 years old and desperately need replacing) we recently joined this club, so we had not purchased from them. Seems like a strange policy and I was wondering if our club made this up or if, intact titlest makes these events to exclude new club members?

Sounds like a club I wouldn't want to be associated with.

Usually they only have 6 to 8 spots available. If they have a large demand then yes, they can certainly choose who gets those spots.

Titleist doesn’t restrict their sponsored fittings. The incentive to the sponsoring club is the $100 to schedule a slot will be applied to purchases made through THAT club THAT day. As noted, a typical day may only have 6 hour long slots.

A full bag fitting would only be scheduled as 2 if not 3 hour long fittings. Irons/wedges and driver/metal-woods. A private club may not want to give up half the slots to a non-member.

Pro shops are generally managed by the pro (and his staff). I’ve seen many private clubs where the club pro will do outside fittings because it generates revenue. This is with the house staff and the fitting may not be a $100 and may not be applied to a purchase.

Our club has never charged a $100 fee for any fitting events. Did my Titleist fitting yesterday, with the Titleist rep, and ordered on the spot. No charge whether you ordered or not.

I have never heard of Titleist putting restrictions on fitting spots. This sounds like the club implemented the restrictions. Like others have replied it might not be for any reason other than not enough slots are available that day.

sounds more like the restrictions came from the pro shop and not Titleist. That being said, you would think that they would have made some accomodation for a newer member to get fit (even if not the entire bag).
  8. I guess they don’t want any new customers. That’s nuts!

I'll be the bad guy as usual, most of these "at the club" fittings are a race to let you hit 10 balls, give you a recommendation, on to the next one. I know a couple of the old Titleist Thursday guys that got out of fitting altogether. I won't mention the vendors, but 2 of the Top 3-4 clubmakers are at my club every other month, and they're like the "Soup Nazi" from Seinfeld. I'm not even kidding.

** If they did that, it'd because current Titleist owners are more prone to buy the new Titleist equipment, but I doubt they did.
