I've been thinking of cutting my 910 D2 45" driver shaft down by an inch, but was wondering if the 910 D2 driver shaft is interchangeable with my 910F shaft, both of which are RIP 70 shafts. I'm thinking of putting the 44" 910F shaft into my driver to see if the shorter shaft works better before cutting the driver shaft. Are the two interchangeable? Thanks.
  2. Hi Eric -

The 910 Driver and Fairway shafts can be interchanged.  Something to consider:

If your 910F was built by our custom department at 44", the tipping instructions for the 910F install and a 910D install are different.  So playing the 910F 44" in the driver and then choosing to cut down your existing 910D2 45" might not play exactly the same.  They'll be very close but the 44" 910F RIP will have been tip trimmed 1/2" more (assuming the 910F is a 13.5 or 15 degree).

Thanks nick, good stuff to know. My 910F was a custom order from Titliest. I'll give it a try to get a feel for not having to grip down on the driver, but looks like if i like the shorter length i might just order the shorter driver shaft from you guys.

Nick I tried the 44" 910F shaft in my 910 D2 driver and wow, so much better control. Now the question that I have is that playing the 910F shaft you say it's tip trimmed a half inch more than the D2 shaft. What effect does that have? would that cause the shaft to play stiffer vs softer? Would it cause the ball to launch higher vs. lower? Etc. etc. any additional information would be great. Thanks.

Nick/Cathi, i'm looking to possibly order 44" shaft for the 910 D2, but before, could I get an answer to my previous question? Thanks.
  6. Hi Eric -

1/2" of tipping would most likely reduce spin rate and ball flight.  It will also make the shaft play firmer (about 1/2 flex).
