I don't think the price has changed since January when the new NXT line came out.  The street price still seems to be 47.95.  I think it was 45 last year. The NXTs are both list at $42 and retail for about $32.  It did raise my eyebrow that the 2 piece Tour-S was the same price as the 3 piece Tour.  The Velocity is a little cheaper than the old NXT and DT Solo is unchanged.

Acushnet is not selling shoes to underprivledged children, so long as the quality is perceived to worth the price, the marketplace will continue buy ProVs at any price.  It's a smart company.  If a 10% price cut wouldn't net them 15% increase in business volume, it is better to keep the price up.  The other tour caliber balls are not less enough in price with enough perceived quality to encourage a wholesale switch in loyalty.

Can't wait to see what happens with a new model out in January, but if your local big box has a Chrsitmas special, you may want to stock up.

You say that the price is too high but that you would never switch to another brand, I will, the reason that prices get an stay so high is because people won't switch brands.  I know that all golf balls aren't the same, but I'm not trying to make million dollar puts either, so if I have to go back to the $10 a dozen balls I will.  $45 a dozen was too expensive for and not justified but $62 a dozen just won't happen.

Christian where did you see that? If that's true then once again I guess I'm not surprised but disappointed. Love this game but I'm still puzzled when PGA business heads and professionals say, " we are losing 1 million golfers a year and we have to make this game more affordable."  You do have a choice and there are cheaper options but yes the ProV's are becoming a supply demand model.

Just compared the online prices for a tire company, another Japanese company, and the other 2 american names that sell balls and clubs, and all 4 are within 3 dollars a dozen for 'tour' performance balls competing with the Titleist ProV line.  The price of 47.99 for ProVs is commonly advertised even though the list is $62.  Even an old line name now owned by a big box outlet was in the same range for their tour ball unit it went on sale.  I'm pretty sure the confidence factor in Titleist is worth more than a quarter a ball, so the price is fair.

Just hope you can find a good holiday sale.  I think Lee Iacoccal used to say on ads for Chrysler in 1980 - if you can find a better car at a better price - buy it.

I generally stock up then for the season.

Cody, if you click on golf balls and select a model, scroll down and it will show the price of them.  I have noticed though the price at some golf stores haven't gone up, but I wouldn't doubt that they do.  

I never seen them at the stores more than $39.99 for the proVs regardless of list price unless you are buying them at the club.  I will be interested to see if Golfsmith and the other big retailers will increase as they have not yet.  MSRP does not have to be honored in the stores.  Actually by law a manufacturer cannot tell a store what to sell them at.  Of course they could behave like Apple and not give a deep discount so they are forced to increase prices, but with so many other brands and as good as Titleist is, they do not have that strong of a following like Apple.   

Keep in mind though as I am in the manufacturing business as well, prices are dictated by many things and mostly raw materials and labor.

Golfsmith here is still at 39.99 for 2012.  

Dick's and Golfsmith have them in Chicago @ $45.  Old model is still available at $39.99

You have a great point but nothing feels better than hitting a nice pro v1.  Golf balls dont make a the difference but it does when you're a decent golfer and you have to start considering spin.  Overall I do see where you're coming from in the aspect of price.

Brent, you're absolutely right and that is why I will keep playing the ProV1.  I didn't mean to take a bad shot at Titleist, I was just asking that they take in effect of the little guy that loves the game but can't afford $62 for a dozen of golf balls.  I'm 17 and I have a job, but I need to be saving that money for college instead of paying for golf balls.  Along with everyone else I haven't seen this price anywhere except fot this website.  I just hope they stay the same price that they are in most stores now.

Same here Monty.  As of late I have been playing the refurbished kind from GG, and in my opinion play just as well.  I did manage to find an NXT Tour S not to long ago though and it played very well compared to my Pro V1.  I might consider switching balls soon.

Guys, not to throw gas at a small, albeit growing, fire, but this was my point last year when the new models came out (i.e., NXT Tour S). Every year or so, Titleist, in their wisdom, comes out and either (a) changes what does not need to be changed or (b) changes in order to justify a price increase. To be fair, raw materials are getting more expensive as is plant maintenance and technology, salaries and tour sponsorships.

Truthfully, I play the DT SoLo in yellow because I genuinely like the ball, the color and the quality. I tried others, but this ball is the best for me. I buy a sleeve or so at a time, because I don't generally lose balls on my home course and have enough to get by.

Supply and demand is a wonderful thing; the longer we as players on a fixed budget tolerate the increases, the more the increase will be.

Titleist has every right in a free market to do whatever they like, but the consumer - golfer still holds the power.

Just a thought.

That's the thing.  In my first post, I stated that I wouldn't switch because I'm a loyal Titleist supporter and would stay by their side until something different happens.  I also realize that prices for everything else is going up as well.  I just wanted to let Titleist now that I was a little dissappointed that they rose the prices that much.  I for one won't be able to afford the Pro V1's if the stores do end up selling them at that price.

For most of us, last year's model and the new version are no different.  Just buy last year's model at Dick's or Sports Authority for $39.99. 

I will tell you one iritating thing though.  I hate that Titleist excludes their products for any coupons at Golf Warehouse, Golfsmith, Dick's and Sports Authority though.  If they would allow the use of coupons on their products, I would buy more balls.  Instead, I use a ball until it is really scuffed up to save costs. 

Start with a brand new ball every round and if it gets trashed then so be it.  If i don't lose it, it goes into my bag and is the replacement if I lose the brand new ball I start the next round with.

I agree with you Zach.  It stinks because Titleist and other manufacturers are usually excluded when sites and stores are having sales on their products.  As for the previous model, I will definetly consider that because I believe they still play the same as the new ones.

Guys, I truly believe Titleist has the best product.  BUT BUT BUT   there are a lot of good balls out there and the competition is getting tighter every year.  As such the market is going to dictate how much a manufacturer is going to be able to get away with in terms of price increases.  Sooner or later it is going to be met with resistance and price sensitive consumers will walk to a competitor.  You need to decide what is the best balance point between game improvement and impact on your budget.
