I had always thought that the V1x was for more accomplished golfers than the V1.   I was given a sleeve of  the x's by a friend.  I am a senior with a low senior swing speed (low 90s at best), but I seem to play better with the x's.   Not what I anticipated.   Am I weird of does that make sense.   Additionally, would I be better off using an NXT.

There are other variables, including how much side spin you impart on a drive, but I'm like you and get similar results. The -1x tends to fly straighter and run better on landing off of driver for me, and the NXT Tour (not the -S) performs similar to the -1X. Both perform better around greens than other vendor's distance balls and are at least as long. I use the -1X because buying the loyalty 4 for 3 package in March brings the cost difference to under a quarter a ball and I get a custom number.

    Hi Don,

Great deal, under a quarter a ball.  I'm aware of this, what package are you talking about?

Yes ... The V1x still provides plenty of spin with the short irons and less spin of the longer clubs. It also launches higher, which could make it a beneficial ball for a wide range of players, regardless of swing speed or level of play.

My dad is also a senior player and has been exclusively using the V1x for years now and his play certainly benefits from it! It is also my ball of choice.

    Cheers!

Larry, you can answer your own question. Play a round with the NXT's and a round with the ProV1x's and see if there are any differences in distance, ball curve, how it rolls on the green and difference in spin when chipping and pitching around the green. If there is not much difference I would go with the cheaper ball but if there is a 3 to 5 stroke difference then is it worth $10 - $15 more ? That's why I don't play balls that you can buy 18 for $15-$20.

    Hi Larry,

    Thanks for the post.

The best way to determine which ball is right for you is to hit both the NXT Tour and the Pro V1x side-by-side on the golf course. Pay attention to which one offers you the best chance to hit it close.

When it comes to choosing the right ball for you, it really is as simple as playing the ball that will help you shoot lower scores. The Pro V1x offers more short game control and greenside spin for all scoring shots. Because of this, you will likely hit it closer to the hole and lower your scores.

    Keep us up to date.

I have always found that I can use the V1X as long as the conditions aren't too hard, especially the greens. Mid summer crusty conditions I will always use the V1. maybe its my imagination but I just think the V1 is more controllable both on approach shots and on delicate chips.

For me, I like the ProV1 for control around the greens and like the NXT tour for strait shots and long distance off the tee.  As mentioned its what works for you and what you feel comfortable with.  Try them all out and see for yourself.  Good luck and have fun!!!!!!

Pro V 1's have a better putting feel as well.

When I first started playing the Pro V about 11 years ago I used the regular one. But about 2009 I switched over to the Pro V1X and haven't looked back. My driver SS is upper 90s and whenever I go hit my beloved V1X and any other ball it never loses in distance and always hits and sticks within a foot of its ball mark.  For me it is and has been the best ball there is.

I personally like the X I feel they go a litttle farther. Both Pro V's are great balls though

Larry, if you like that Pro V1x that's the ball for you. You are an accomplisher golfer. Like the Titleist TV ad says, the ball doesn't know your handicap, or how old or young you are. I'm also a senior with a slower swing speed. I'm playing from the senior tee's these days and having a blast. I carry both the Pro V1's and the Pro V1x's. For shorter courses where I hope to play a driver and a wedge to the green I'll play the Pro V1. Longer courses where I may need to use mid irons, I'll switch to a Pro V1x for a little more distance.

I believe the pro v1 has to much spin for low to moderate swing speeds and believe the pro v1x performs much better for me as a 92 mph swing speed senior player,I have played the pro v1x for years and have tried many of the newer balls and still stay with pro v1x.

My opinion is you'd be better off using the NXT.  As a 69 year old 8 handicapper and long time user of the Pro V ball, I've switched and haven't noticed any loss of yardage.  But, if your short game is your bread and butter, you can't beat the Pro V for feel.

  15. What exactly is the difference in a V1 and a V1x?

I am also a senior player who just by chance tried the prov1x. I played the NXT Tour S liked the feel, then the NXT and got a bit more distance. Well I was really surprised when my PRO suggested I try the prov1x. With my 913 D2 12* driver with the senior shaft the prov1x feels great. With the short game, I sweep the ball resulting in much less run out on the green. In regard to the price, I hit everything pretty streight and I can get 36+ holes out of 1 ball. The feel and results are worth it.

I think you've answered your own question when you say "I seem to play better with the x's." I'm also a senior with low 90 swing speed but I prefer the V1 because my game is more dependant on my short game and the feel. The V1 just feels softer to me. I'm not concerned about a little more distance. If you want to try the NXT go ahead and then determine which ball you feel more comfortable with. I've tried them all as well as other brands, but I always come back to the V1.

    Larry,

I think what Bubba said would be good to try.  Get out on a course when it's not busy, play with both a ProV1x and an NXT Tour and see how they compare, see which one fits your game the best.  I currently play the 1x, but used to play the NXT Tour.  Like you, I used to think that the Pro V's were for very accomplished players, but what I realized after finding a few 1x's from time-to-time and playing them was that the ball worked very well for me, so I made the switch.

  20. Tony T Also just received my sleeve of prototype balls to test. I will use them this Wednesday when I play with my guys. I have had more success  with the Pro V1x  less spin around the greens. I also have a slow swing speed. All thought it seems I hit the Pro V1 farther. Go figure.
