Over the weekend I had my 33" Kombi turned into a 43" Mid Length Putter at a local golf shop with a shaft extension.  I had done enough research to know that the Mid putter was 400 Grams and therefore heavier than mine.  I've only played 3 rounds with it since having it extended.  I've already made a big improvement on my putting but I'm having a really hard time getting it to the hole from any real distances.  I wanted to know if anyone else has done anything similar and if so would you just add weight to it or do you think actually getting the stock mid putter would be worth the money.  I think I could probably get used to it over time but surely Titleist is making them heavier the longer you get them for a reason.  One of the guys in my group went to have the same thing done with his Rosie putter and they really discouraged him due to this same reason.  Did they think the weight was that big of a deal or did they just want to sell another putter.  I'll gladly spend the money IF I believe it's really that well spent.  All input is greatly appreciated!!!

    Thanks.

    Joshua,

Scotty has designed his putters to match certain swing weights due to how well they perform at that weight.  Since you have the original Kombi, you can have additional weight added if you would like.  Click on the link below to see how to perform this operation through the Scotty Cameron Custom Shop.

  3. There is a reason the belly putters are heavier...IMO

Big reason people struggle with distance with belly putters that have been converted is because the club make just extends the shaft length, a better way to do this is to actually insert a longer section of a shaft into the existing shaft to make the putter stiffer. Wiggle your putter and you will see how much flex there is in the shaft compared to an off the rack belly putter. Better yet get it restarted or get a true belly putter.

Hi I’ve done something similar with a Kombi but took it to a short long putter (47”) and have also change the weight in the bottom to 2x25 and 1x 20 grams plus added a bit of lead tape to the inside portion of the putter head . I’ve heard that there is a difficulty lag putting with mid to long putter and I found that I consistently lag long distance putts better, people stopped laughing when I started dropping putts seems to work for me !
