I'm thinking about having my scotty cameron monterey putter refinished. It's last years model and the honey dipped finish is starting to wear out so I was thinking about maybe getting it refinished at the putterloung. This is the link to the site and color I was thinking about. Tuxedo is a black finish and I was thinking about going with a combo of blue and white paintfill on the putter. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think it is worth it? Does anyone know if putterlounge is a reputable website? Would you do it? Haha I just want to make sure this is worth it for $97 and 5-7 weeks without my putter.

Just dip your Monterey in naval jelly a few times to remove all the finish. Do your own paintfill if you want.

If you want a black putter go with the 2012 select series coming out in April like the newport 2

I've seen many refinished putters from ScottyCameron.com over the years as well as other putter refinishers. I've taken a good look at Putter Lounge and their work looks fantastic. Very nice detailing on the paintfill and custom stamping. Since they also have a heavy following on Facebook and a solid reputation on eBay, there's no doubt they are legitimate. Also, since they have a turnaround time of 5-7 weeks, that is a good indication they are quite busy which is a good sign. You can't have that many projects without a lot of repeat customers. I'd say it's a safe place to send your putter.

I am fortunate to have sent in dozens of cameron putters over the years to be refinished at the Scotty Cameron Custom Shop "SPA".  That being said, I would send in your putter and have it done right by the pros!  They will be able to reshaft it, add new colors, add a new shaftband, put on a new grip and much more! Have fun with it and ask for input if you like on colors and ideas!  Some people have taken the honey dipped color and had it stripped to a raw stainless steel which is a cool look but ultimately it is up to you!

    Cheers!

Just curious...why is the finish deteriorating after only one year?

I'm also curious about why this finish wears off so quickly. I have a 2011 Monterey and there are a few spots where the finish has worn off, and not areas that are prone to wear such as the sole and face. There are distinct spots on the heel, neck and toe where the finish has worn off. After some googling it seems that this is a common problem with the "Honey Dipped" California putters, yet I've not been able to find a reason why. I know someone above suggested sending the putter to the custom shop for a refinish but the price seems unreasonable given the age of the club and the fact that this is a common problem. I understand that whatever warranty period there is (if any) has probably since passed but I've had a handful of Camerons over the years (and a few currently), none of which I've had any problems with the finish.

If anyone has an answer as to why this finish comes off so quickly and easily and what to do about it, it would be much appreciated. Also, is there any kind of warranty for the finish on Cameron putters?

    Thanks!
