Hi James,  It is possible they could get it to D1, but D0 is most probable.  Due to the length of the shaft, 3 wood heads weigh less than 5 or 7 woods, which is how they can keep standard swingweights.  We don't see many (they couldn't think of any) of the pros playing 1" shorter 3 woods.  If they go shorter,  they shorten it 1/2" which we can build at D3 (which you should request since swingweight is important to you).  

Swingweight will also depend on the balance of the shaft.  For example, we could build a White Board 83 S or X at a D2 swingweight at 42".  

A couple other options would be to use a lighter grip and/or add lead tape, the old standby.

thanks for this information, really appreciate you taking the time to add the details.  Few follow up questions if you don't mind.

1) will Titleist cut to 1/4" lengths so that i could order at 42.25" or only 1/2" lengths ?

2) do you have a list of the shafts with similar balance points as the whiteboard 83S that might get closer to the D2 weight at 42" on a 910Fd 3 wood?  I'm intersted in the WB 83S but wanted to know if there are more shafts that are in the low to mid launch and spin ranges with this balance point.

We will cut to 42.25"

 We should be able to accommodate your request with the RIP 80 S or X  if you request a D2 swingweight  at 42.25".  Again that is standard length and grip.

I don't show another shaft that will build at D2 at 42".  I am checking with our R & D to make sure that isn't an error since none of the others (even the Ahina 80) will build that heavy.

A Winn Excel RF weighs 42 grams (adds 2 swingweight points vs a standard Golf Pride 52g grip).    Winn Lite Dri-Tac is 25 grams (TM uses Winn Lite on their Superfast fww and hybrids so a Dri Tac oversize grip is a natural change) and adds 5 swingweight points.    If one is blessed with large hands, changing from a Lamkin Crossline or Golf Pride Tour Velvet to Winn Excel RF adds 4 swingweight points (midsize rubber grips are 67 grams and Winn Excel RF is 43 grams).  With the Winn Lite or Winn Lite Dri Tac, I have to use oversize because the midsize is a bit thin.  

Am not sure on balance point but the good old v2 96 could help bring it up. You could always increase loft of it launches too low.

In a related subject, I have been using a 44.5" driver since 2007.   Titleist is pretty easy to accomodate, given their shaft lengths are 45":  I use a Winn Excel RF oversize grip and that restores the swingweight vs a standard rubber grip and also gains a couple additional points vs a rubber midsize grip.   I had my 975D and 983K drivers set in this manner.  Other vendors are typically 45 3/4" or even 46 1/2".  I have had a TM Burner HT draw driver (which has a more upright lie angle vs the other vendors and it fits my swing better) and have left it at 45" for the past year because cutting it to 44.5" would have dropped the swingweight to about C8.  The Winn Lite Dri Tac just came out recently (with a weight of 23g) and it has been an excellent match for my fairways (wasn't really fond of a V17 Lite before so I hesitated on using that one) and the oversize grip fits my hands nicely.   I went to the driving range this AM (because I had been  contemplating shortening my driver to 44.5") and hit some drives by choking down slightly and was hitting them totally dead straight when getting "anxious" (vs a small push with a full grip), so I went to GM and had them install a Dri Tac Lite jumbo grip.    Bingo!  Besides, statistics show most Tour players use a 44.5" driver. 

BTW, I have AP1 irons and SM3 wedges.
