    I am seeking to upgrade my irons. I have been playing 704 CB's since 2005. I have never played often but have always been a fairly solid ball-striker. (After resuming playing 15 years ago, I played miz TP9's before switching to Titleist.)

    I have a very high trajectory with all my clubs and I am a sweeper.

    I play Vokey wedges and replaced my 9-iron with a 48* 2 years ago. This has suited me well as I don't feel I need the forgiveness of cavity-backing for a wedge or short iron.

    As I have begun to track my scores and statistics in the past year-and-a-bit I have confirmed that I have awful GIR statistics which is severely hampering my ability to score now that I have fully sorted out my game off the tee. Most of my shots into the green are with an 8-iron to a 56*. I find that I am often missing the green with my 8- and 9-. My judgement of distance is accurate, but I am simply not getting the accuracy which I desire and which I obtain from my wedges.

    I also find that the rear of the soles of my 8- and 9- dig into the turf on some shots.

    So, I consider to move up to the MB Forged for 7- through 9-irons and the AP2s for 3- through 6-irons.

    I already put an AP2 3- in my bag 2 years ago which I use most on long Par 3's. I am quite comfortable with the club. (I also keep an AP2 6-, which I picked up as a demo club. I quite like it, but it has a R300 shaft.) My AP2 3- has a S300 shaft, as do my 704 CB's, but I notice a discernible difference in weight.

    Does this make sense?(i.) MB Forged for 7- through 9-iron;  (ii.) AP2 for 3- through 6-iron (again, I already have a 2011 AP2 3-iron). (iii.) Can I move down from S300  to a S200 shaft to lighten the clubs. [Additional question: My Vokey wedges (48*, 56*, 62*) are all wedge weight. Exactly which weight is this?}

    Your advice is much appreciated, VT.
