Hi guys, so recently I've noticed a significant gap in my distances between my 60 degree and my 56 degree. I hit my 60 degree about 110 and I can only hit my 56 degree 90 yards!, any idea as to why this is?!?!? (My 60 degree is a Cleveland CG14 and my 56 degree is a swoosh TP, both have True Temper Dynamic Gold S400 shafts.)

    Ryan,

The first thing that comes to my mind is the loft of your two clubs. I would start by taking the two clubs to your local pro shop and having them check the actual loft of your clubs. Maybe the cleve was stamped incorrectly?

    Good luck!

With those distances I would think you were hitting an 09 iron and not a 60 wedge...

Yeah, the 90 yds. for the 56* sounds pretty close (although it would be about 80 yds. for me), but the 110 yds. for the 60* is a long way to hit a 60.  Maybe that club was stamped incorrectly.  I agree... I would get the lofts checked.

    Good luck!

  5. You may want to have the lofts and lies checked for accuracy...mine come out of specs easily since wedges can be hit more often than a 5 iron!  Especially on the practice area...

That being said, wedge distances for most are not that long and I think either you are swinging too hard or your lofts are out of spec.

    IMHO

Also think about your swing with each club.  Is it different?  Are you de-lofting the 60 at impact?  Are you swinging harder with the 60?  I know for me, most of my wedge shots aren't "full shots."  In other words, I'm not taking a full backswing and rotating my hips like I do on a mid-iron.  Without looking at the clubs or your swing, it's hard to tell.  But it sure sounds like something is out of whack!

The real problem is you're not using Vokey's!

Might have a point......also they might not have the correct lofts and lies and shafts lengths.....a lot of variables.....I would recommend looking into some Vokey wedges.......great clubs......

  9. Shaft length plays a part in distance. I'd also have this checked.

I agree with the other posts. There is defiantly something wrong. I'd be surprised if the pros were getting 110yds. from their 60* wedge.

Have your lie and lofts checked.  I play Vokey wedges and I get them checked every six months.  Mine are two degrees flat and they always need a slight tweet.  I also agree with a previous comment.  I rarely hit full wedge shots.  3/4 swings.  First you get a better ball flight and less back spin.  I prefer one hop and stop over spinning a shot 10-15 feet back.  Good luck hope this helps.
