Driver D2 or D3?

  1. I appreciate if someone can help me with this request.

I'm going to buy a 913 Driver to my son but I don't know if I should buy D2 or D3.

He is a 17 years old boy with handicap 5. With his actual 910 D3 Driver he has a 102 club speed, Launch angle 14. I think that this data can help.

Is it better 445cc head or 460cc head? What is better for a young player?

Also I'm considering the Diamana D+ White 72 shaft stiff. I'm right?

    Thanks

    Fernando

    Hi Fernando,

    Thanks for the question.

Here are some thoughts about the questions you have.

    1) With your sons current driver, a launch of 14 with a club speed of 102 is good IF the spin rate is manageable. At that speed and launch, anything over a spin of roughly 2750 could cause a flight that is too high and could result in less distance.

    2) Determining what head is appropriate relies heavily on what he likes the look of. If he likes a more traditional, pear shaped head, he should stick with the D3. (445 CC).  There is no "better" head for younger players.

    3) As for the shaft, the D+ 72 (S) is a stiffer tip shaft that is lower launch and spin in relation to the other stock shafts in our line.  The key is to make sure it is right for your son. If he wants a lower flight and tighter torque, this could be a good option.

Hopefully these answers give you some direction. However, we always suggest trying to see a local fitter to get the exact set up that will help your game.

    Take care,

    Bubba

  3. Thanks for your prompt answer

  4. In my opinion, I have been playing a 8.5 913 D2 and a 9.5 913 D3...the D3 has a better look and sound...they both seem to go a similar distance for my game...Just a couple thoughts!

I play the D3 and prefer it to the D2.  Both great drivers, but in my mind I feel like I have a more controlled swing with the smaller head.
