How bout some feedback on the AP 1 irons.  I am in the market for new clubs and I've heard great things about them.  I'm heading over next week to a local Titleist Fitter to give them a swing. I like a more forgiving club since I'm realistically a mid handicap player. Any feedback would be great

    Thanks

You will love them.  Very solid feel and very forgiving. I would suggest that you also hit the AP2s. Your fitter will be able to help you pick the best ones for your game,  just be sure to go in open minded.

Nailed it.   You WILL love the AP1's, but definitely give the AP2's a try as well.   I am not a very consistent, low handicap golfer and I went with a mix set.  4-6 AP1's, 7-w AP2's.   AP2's work just fine for me even on a bit of a mishit.   Like 19hole said, just keep an open mind and pick out what works best for you.  Good luck!

I have the AP1s and have been playing them for years after switching over from png.  They are great clubs but you have to try the AP1s and AP2s.  The other thing you have to do is try different shafts.  I wouldn't think that I could hit a "tour" shaft but I loved the tour shafts best of all in my fitting so definitely keep an open mind!

I appreciate all the advice !! I am going this week to see a Titleist Fitter. Can't wait to check both out.  Team Titleist is the best.

I've had AP1 short irons for almost 2 1/2 years now and love them.  I switched from Eye 2.

Also put them alongside a set of DCI Black irons I have.  Given that a 9 iron in the latter set has 1* less loft than a PW, I expect a 1 club change (i.e., hitting a DCI 9 iron where you would hit an AP1 8 iron) but my AP1 8 iron goes 5 yards farther than the DCI 7 iron.

Try AP1 and AP2 alongside each other.

The AP1 8-PW do quite well for long bunker shots out of soft sand.

They are pretty workable for a "game improvement" club.

I loved the forgiveness that the ap1 irons offered but the ap2 irons gave me the exact distance I needed them to go. I felt that I could control them a lot better.

I just got a set of AP1's this year, and all I can say is WOW, why did I wait?   immediately played better than ever before, Since then multiple Birdies and one eagle.    Make sure you get a competent fitter that takes the time to get you the right shaft,   I was amazed at what a difference that makes,  I was fitted with the KBS's.  Since original order I have gone back and got the 2nd Wedge and 3 and 4 Irons to complete my bag,   I change out the 3 Iron with the 913 H on narrow courses.

If you are also in market for Metal woods, you might wait and get the newest 915's in a couple weeks,   I have 913's and might try asking for a trade in and go with them, though you might get the 913's on sale,

    Good luck,

    Mike

I have the 714 AP1s (5-W) and absolutely love them.. My HCP is about a 12 but my scores have been all over the place due to driver issues.. To be honest, if it wasn't for my irons and my Scotty putter, my HCP would be a lot higher...

Everything 19th hole said is dead on..  Biggest plus for me is the forgiveness and can honestly say they'll be in my bag for a very long time unless Titleist comes out with a better set of irons..  Which they probably will..

Glad to see you're going to a Titleist fitter.  IMO, they are the best around and you will learn a lot..   Like 19th hole said, go in with an open mind and have fun!
