Any 915 Surprises?

    Now that we're into the golf season, and we've had a chance to get the new 915's out on the course, I'm curious. Any pleasant surprises you've had with the new clubs? Anything about the driver that amazed you? Any aspect about the fairway wood that you didn't expect? Did something in the hybrids give you a lot to smile about?

    I'll give one surprise for me....it's how the mishits on the driver (mine is the D3) haven't sacrificed much distance. I hit one off the toe the other day and expected it to be short. But when I came up to my ball, it was just as far as I've previously hit it on that hole.

    What has surprised you about the 915's?

    I recently got fitted for a new 915 driver 5 wood and hybrid which have all been going longer and straighter than my old tms . Only downside is my hybrid is going much straighter and higher but I'm losing a bit odistance. This is not a bad thing actually as I'm hitting more greens than ever. Thanks Titleist

    I'll take straighter and more greens all day long and a few Washingtons and Lincolns as well.

    I was fitted for a 915 D3 with a shorter shaft. Driving has become more consistent and I am hitting the ball almost as far as my lower handicap partners. Just got a 13.5 fairway which I can hit Almost as far as my driver

    I've been gaming my 915F and 915H for a couple of weeks now and I love how consistent I am with these clubs. I'm hitting more GIR on longer par 5s now.

    Now to get more consistent with my 915F off a tee. I know it's my swing, not the club :)

    I love my new 915's; I have a D3, a 3 wood and a 5 wood. They all have an Aldila Rogue shaft (95MSI) and are amazingly accurate, with the mis hits forgivable. The pick up off the fairways is fantastic my my drives off the tees have improved my distance. Sometimes when hitting it almost sounds like my old persimmon driver with that "thwack" sound.

    Hey Gordon, just think of it as your old faithful persimmon in disguise.  As that great Yankee philosopher as Yogi Berra would say, deja vu all over again. But look think how far the clubs have come and our friends at Titleist did a first class job!   Now they go zoom, zoom, zoom......

    For me, the greatest surprise came with the addition of the 915Hd hybrid to my bag. I have tried the various Titleist hybrids in the past and have not really found one of the hybrids that I was truly in love with. With the introduction of the 915Hd, that all changed. On shorter Par fours this has become my go to club for accuracy off the tee. I can bash this club a mile (ok, maybe not a mile but I have been consistently hitting the 20.5 degree hybrid 240 straight as an arrow off the tee)and know that it will be waiting for me in the middle of the fairway. It has been so accurate, that my partner in a tournament this past week kept referring to my 915Hd as the "Money Club." While I certainly like the 915D3 and 915H I am gaming, the hybrid was worlds apart from the previous generations.

    The biggest surprise was my change in attitude toward my beloved 913's.  I almost didn't even try the new 915 clubs because of how well I hit my 913s.  When I finally had a fitting for the driver my numbers looked better.  It had lower spin and  higher launch yet my ball speed, carry distance and total distance remained equal to my 913.  I decided to take a chance and it did not disappoint.  My first round  with it I hit 14 fairways and even the mishits went as far as my old 913 .  The solid drives were averaging 15 yds farther ( some 20-25 ).  WOW !  I went straight back to get fitted for a new 3 wood and hybrid both of which are much easier to hit , launch higher and straighter with the same increase in distance.  Surprised ? Yes.  Happy ?  YES !!
